Robert L. Dimond, 84, of Media, PA, died October 3, 2018 at home. A member of the class of ‘52 of West Catholic High School, Bob was a Korean War Vet who maintained a strong tie with Veterans’ groups, serving as life member and Past Commander of his American Legion, founding member and Executive Director of Veterans’ Legacy Project, Board member of Pa Veteran Museum and Co-Chair of Delco Veterans’ and Memorial Day Parades. A former Mayor and Council member of East Lansdowne Borough, Bob continued his public service as Tax Collector for the Borough of Media. As Mayor, he performed countless Wedding ceremonies and later continued doing so as a licensed officiant. He was emcee of Naturalization Ceremonies in Delaware County, welcoming new citizens. Bob was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and Swarthmore Players where he was honored with their Laureate Award. By trade he was a Career Printer, working for Packard Printing and eventually retired as a Manager for General Accident Insurance. He was predeceased by his grandson Kyle Lynch. Survivors include his wife of over 20 years, Dale (nee MacGregor); children Bettina (John) Power, Catherine (Paul) Alfeche, Patricia (Andrew) Carey, Rosemarie Dimond, Robert Dimond, Joseph (Dana) Dimond; his sister, Margaret Raymond; Dale’s daughter, Traci (Sean) Pavlick; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Service: Memorial Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 6, 2018, at St. Philomena. Visitation: after 9 in Church. Contributions: in his memory to Pulmonary Fibrosis research would be preferred.
