The Rotary Club of Media welcomed two Penncrest High School students, Katelyn Wascavage and Julia de Jong, as their students of the month for May. 

Katelyn is an eleventh grade student who is a member of the National Honor Society and the Math, World Language, English and Science National Honor Societies.   She is on the JV Cross Country team and is a breast cancer awareness volunteer, has achieved the silver/bronze girl scout award, and is involved with weight-lifting and self-defense with a brown belt in karate, where she is also an instructor.  Ms.Wascavage is a Science Olympiad representative and a Global Scholars fundraiser organizer. She has placed second two times in the district Spanish contest, has twice received the academic excellence award and is Secretary of the 2025 class council. 

Julia is a Penncrest Senior who is also a member of the National Honnor Society, as well as the National Art Honor Society, and the Science and World Language Honor Societies.  She is on the varsity women’s lacrosse team.  Ms. De Jong is a coach at Roth’s Crosspoint Gymnastics, a Camp Arrowhead volunteer counselor, a food bank volunteer and works as a server at Lima Estates.  She will be attending the University of South Carolina in their Capstone Scholar program and plans to major in biology (pre-dental).
