STUDENTS OF THE MONTH FOR NOVEMBER 2023

The Rotary Club of Media welcomed two Penncrest High School students, Jordan Knox and Rita Tonsa, as their students of the month for November.

Ms. Tonsa is an eleventh grade student who is on the National Honor Society as well as the English and World Language Honor Societies. She has a first degree black belt in karate, plays Bocce Ball and is on the unified PHS Spirit team. She is a singer/song writerand wrote music for the Children’s Theater production of Charlotte’s Web last Spring. She plays the guitar, sings in the Ambassador’s Choir and is a member of the poetry club and theater club. She performs regularly at the Community Cup Coffee House in Springfield. Rita also volunteers at My Kidde Studio and serves as a one-on-one aide, accompanying a young girl to her Sunday School meetings. She was the 2021-22 VFW Post 928 Voices of Democracy Essay Contest winner and received the 2023 “Make A Difference” award from the Delaware County Right to Education Task Force.

Ms. Knox is a senior at Penncrest and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Math, English, Social Studies, Science and World Language Honor Socities. She is president of the Class of 2024 and has worked on the schools Envirothon. She won second place in the 2023 NCF North American Envirothon competition. She has applied to the University of Virginia, Lehigh University and Boston College where she plans to major in English while anticipating a career in Law.
